How to Become a Member

Step 1
Complete the Membership Application.

Step 2
Attend two monthly General Meetings plus a third event (General Meeting, Committee Meeting, fundraiser or social event.)
Learn about the Club, meet our members, and see what we're all about.

Step 3
If DGJWC feels like the right fit, you'll be invited to join and receive membership information and dues details.

Membership Expectations

As an active member, you'll:

  • Attend monthly General Meetings.

  • Participate on a committee.

  • Volunteer throughout the Club year.

  • Pay annual membership dues.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Not at all! While many of our members live in Downers Grove, we welcome women from neighboring communities who want to give back, make friends, and get involved.

  • Yes! We'd love to meet you. Prospective members are welcome to attend a social event or general meeting to get a feel for the club before deciding if it's the right fit. Just reach out and we'll help you find a great event to attend.

  • Your level of involvement is up to you. Some members volunteer at a few events each year, while others take on leadership roles or serve on multiple committees. We understand life is busy, and we encourage members to participate in ways that fit their schedules.

  • Our General Meetings are typically held once a month from September through May. In addition, committees meet throughout the year to plan projects, volunteer opportunities, fundraisers, and social events. Members can choose which activities they'd like to attend.

  • Not at all. Whether you've been volunteering for years or are looking for your very first opportunity, you'll find a welcoming group of women ready to help you get involved.

  • Annual membership dues are $50 and help support club operations, member programming, and our ability to serve the community throughout the year.

  • Absolutely! Members are encouraged to join the committee that best matches their interests, whether that's community service, fundraising, scholarships, membership, communications, social events, or another area. Many members even participate on more than one committee.

  • No. We know our members have busy lives, and we understand that not everyone can make every event. To maintain active membership, our bylaws require attendance at five General Meetings each club year. Beyond that, members are encouraged to participate in volunteer projects, committee meetings, and social events as their schedules allow.
