Downers Grove Junior Woman's Club Announces $10,000 in Teacher Grant Opportunities to Benefit Districts 58 & 99 Teachers

October 11, 2022 - DOWNERS GROVE, Illinois - The Downers Grove Junior Woman’s Club (DGJWC) announced that it will award teacher grants and professional development scholarships to full-time educators in District 58 and/or District 99.  The non-profit organization will fund $10,000 in grants, awarding at least 20 grants or scholarships valued up to $500. 

The grants will support supplies in conjunction with a lesson or program that will benefit students in a meaningful way.  Or a grant may support an educator's enrollment in a specific program, course, or workshop that will benefit the educator’s students. 

“The Downers Grove Junior Woman’s Club is thrilled to provide funds to the incredible teachers in our community who are so invested in our kids’ education,” said Becky Bettinger, Education Committee Chair for DGJWC.  “Our organization has doubled the amount of our teacher grant funding this year thanks to the generosity of our members and sponsors. We can’t wait to see the possibilities that teachers bring forward - all to benefit the kids of our community.” 

The grant application is open now through Thursday, November 10, 2022.  The online grant application can be found here.  Eligibility requirements are:

  • Applicants must be current full-time educators or professionals in Downers Grove District 58 or District 99 who are also planning to remain full time in District 58 or District 99 during the 2023-2024 school year. 

  • All applicants must be U.S. Citizens or permanent legal residents of the United States. 

  • Grant recipients from the calendar year immediately prior are ineligible.

Grant and scholarship recipients will be announced the week of January 2, 2023.
